For its price, the Astoria is a good hotel, particularly for its central location. All the major sites were within walking distance. The interior is a little dark, but this added to the old-world charm.

Hotel has been renovated in the last two years. Rooms are big and spacious and nicely decorated. Staff welcoming. Food excellent. No noise from streets could be heard. Centrally located. Feel you have gone back in time, and have the feel good sense.

Excellent location, within reach (on foot) of everwhere you would want to go on a 5 day visit. Staff extremely friendly.

The staff were very helpful and there was a lovely breakfast buffet. However, we would have appreciated a better choice of vegetarian meals in the evenings. Our room faced onto the main street and therefore the traffic noise was somewhat loud early in the morning. The interior of the hotel is very impressive and retains its traditional style. We would be happy to stay again but would ask for a quiet room.

When pulling a beer do it in front of the customer not under the counter and topping up the glass from other glasses under the counter is not ON. Only had the one beer. I should of brought it to her attention but late in the evening and tired. Everything else perfect and would recommend.

Old, but renovated. Small rooms. Poor service, little English speaking. Breakfast better than average. No pool or spa. Convenient to the subway. Does not at all measure up to the Intercontinental or the Kempinski. I will not return.

A central hotel being beautifully restored in its 1920 style - brown marble and chandeliers. Elegant Empire Restaurant. Friendly, clean and efficient. Our large bedroom and bathroom was well decorated and spotless.

Location was pretty good for seeing the main attractions. Close to many restaurants and bars. Friendly and courteous staff. Breakfast was good but a bit chaotic around the buffet. Room was a little small but did suffice.

This is old hotel with a great charm. Location is excellent and breakfast is very good. The hotel went out its way to help us. It was a present stay. Just as it should have.

Myself and my wife was very satisfied with every aspect of the hotel. It was very grand and the manners and service were excellent. We would certainly recommend it to our friends and family.

This is a four star grand empire hotel which has fabulous potential but like many other such hotels the bedrooms and bathrooms are very old fashioned. Wonderfully large rooms but rock hard beds, radiators which needs constant attention, and very basic bathrooms. However, the top floors are being refurbished and the rest of the hotel will be ready by the end of 2006. Ask for a refurbished superior room which apparently is the same price as a standard unrefurbished room.
