I had requested a non-smoking room and was given a smoking one on the 2nd the second floor, it was also very dark and not very clean. I requested a change and was given a much brighter, larger and cleaner room on the 4th floor without any difficulty, the reception staff were efficient, friendly and courteous The hotel is old and very ornate but suffers from a lack of investment - the phrase the relicts of past grandeur' comes to mind - bear this in mind and be prepared to request a change of room, the 4th floor was significantly better than the second

Classic fin-de-siecle (19th) style hotel right in the centre of the city. Comfortable, clean, efficient service, good buffet breakfast. I thoroughly enjoyed my two night stay on a business trip. Would stay aagain, but only with the substantial Hotclub discount.

The worst hotel in Brussels from the many I know. Old, weary, missing tiles in the bathroom, dark room looking to a dirty 'hole' (lichthof as they call in German), tiny room for breakfast - the last place on earth where they give continental breakfast: bread, butter, jam, tea or coffee. (You can have an egg for 3 euros or a yooghurt for 3.50). Waiting 20 minutes for check in; a guy knocking on your door every morning at 8 to check the minibar, and so on. Perfect for the snobs, otherwise avoid it!

Quite hard to find! Seemed more like a 4 star hotel with character. Good price for the room though better to eat breakfast round the corner, the hotel charges 25 euros each!

From Gerard Jamison - United Kingdom
The room allocated was much smaller than what I have experienced at hotels of similar rating. My overall impression was tarnished on the final mornimg when the cooked breakfast was cold. The food was taken away by the waiter to be reheated but you can imagine that one's appetite is not enhanced when presented with cold scrambled egg first thing in the morning.I reported this to the receptionist on departure but my wife and I were still charged a steep 25 euros each for a completely unsatisfactory meal. As you are aware I have regularly used Venere hotels and would recommend that this hotel be removed from your list. It certainly could not compare with it's namesake in Venice.

Single rooms are not refurbished; nothing looks like the rooms you see on the pictures. Very small and uncomfortable rooms. This is not a five star hotel. Will not give it more than two stars!!
