Bedrooms somewhat small and rather tired. Could do with refurbishment. Breakfast buffet good, but tables cramped, lacking space with too many people. Staff helpful and friendly. Ideal location with Sbahn station 2 minutes away.

Friendly and helpful atmosphere at reception. Good choice at the hot buffet breakfast. Above all, excellent location only a few minutes walk from bus and train station

The Hotel is well positioned adjacent to one of the main public transport hubs (Zoo Gardens) in the centre of City. The staff were all courteous and very helpful at all times making our visit a most enjoyable experience. Recommended.

The hotel is quite pleasant and in a good location to get around the city by bus or tube (from the Zoo Station). I would recommend getting the bus to places like the airport (15/20mins) or the parliment building (20 mins) as service is very good. The people reception were helpful in advising of places to go eat. The clientelle is of a maturer age so I wouldn't recommend the hotel to under 30's who should stay closer to Mitte, but all in all I had a very nice stay.

Good for travelling from Shonefeld Airport to Zoo Garten station as the hotel is within 5 minutes walking distance of Zoo Garten station. Unfortunately you get a lot of drug dependent street people hanging about under the station bridge that happens to be along the path you would walk to reach The Berlin Excelsior Hotel. All it would need is for the local police to clean the are up a little. The hotel itself is fine with decent friendly staff and decent rooms

I could not believe my luck. 200 metres from Zoogarten, windows that opened for fresh air, and a great breakfast. And at the end of the day you could hang out in the lobby and watch the German business people unwind at the bar. Very friendly reception. Great internet which no one uses. Tip though, when you walk in for breakfast, to the left is for the smokers and to the right non. I sat on the first day with the smokers, which there are lots in Germany..yuk.

It was our first time to Berlin, and we found the hotel quite easy, it took us around 45minutes on the train to get to Zoologischer Garden and from there it is a 5minute stroll to the hotel which is around the corner. We read that you should stay away from under the bridge at night time but we had no trouble. Arriving at the hotel we where greeted with smiles,which is always nice after an early start. We got a double room, it was very nice with an ensuite bath and everything, all in all we thought the room was lovely, we couldn't believe that we got the room which came with breakfast included in the price for so cheap... The only bad thing i could say about the hotel is that the maid knocked the door every morning saying house house keeping but every night we came back to the hotel our pj's where nicely arranged on the bed (which was a nice thought after waking us up so early) I would definitely go again and stay in the same hotel as it is a very good location and very good price.

The room we were first given was not cleaned and withou curtains. We complained and received one which was correct. At diner we had to wait one hour and a half to recieve our meal and we didn't get what we had ordered. There was a mistake on the bill which was corrected.

We were very pleased with the hotel. We stayed there in the week after Easter so it may not have been as busy as some other times of the year. The staff were helpful at all times. We used the Hotel main restaurant and were very pleased at the quality and value of the evening meal. The breakfast was exceptionally good with a very wide range of types of food with the quality again being high. We would be vvery happy to stay at the Excelsior again.
