I had a most excellent stay at the Pension Alte City. To start, the Pension was immaculately clean and abounding with charm. While few services are offered at the Pension (no wireless internet for example), I was nevertheless fully satisfied with my stay, especially given the low room rate I ended up paying. The beds are extremely comfortable, the ceilings are 10 ft. high, everything is newly renovated, and the location is in one of the poshest areas of Berlin (just a few steps from KaDeWe.) To top it all off, the breakfast is fantastic!

A skip from downtown and a skip from many conveniences including a Dunkin Donut, public transportation at 200 steps away or less this Pension is awesome! The only minus has been that the ladies working the Pension do not speak English but they surely are the nicest people on this planet as I speak a little German. One of the ladies told em that we always have our hands to speak to each other! The room was big, but we found out that we had the biggest room on that wing of the Pension (103), some of the furniture were done for but we still had a great stay and plus clean towels and fresh made beds everyday.The breakfast was a buffet with plenty of choices. We will definetely stay here next time in Berlin, but we will ask for a room downstairs in the main Pension, the decorating is so Alte City. They were very welcoming even if we had a toddler along, actually they even offered us an extra bed at no cost, but Alistair would have never slept in it! But eh double bed was more then spacious for the 3 of us.

If you like "luxury" hotels then think again. For me it was a very nice hotel with good service(no english) but a little expensive for what it gives. Location is perfect, I couldn't believe it. Nice one

Excellent price and location (a couple blocks off the Ku'damm, not far from the Gedachtnis Kirche). Room was cramped, but OK for the price. Ample breakfast. Only downside was someone in the apartment on the floor above that did noisy gymnastic exercises late at night on a couple occasions. Staff was helpful and communication (in our less-than-fluent German) was easy. Can't comment on how well the staff speaks (or doesn't speak) English.

Communication is poor. They speak deutsch and that's all. But they immediately understood when I told them I would like to pay in advance. Maybe they pretend, to avoid questions and demands. But location, cleanliness,services and equpments are very good. Arlindo Lopes Corrêa

we were a family of 4 (children aged 10 and 12)and the family room we stayed in was just right for our needs. Breakfast was good and unlimited and the hotel is very conviently placed on a quiet street round the corner from a small park and only 5 minutes walk away from Wilheim Kaiser Church and the local u bahn station.
