Hotel Husa Meson Castilla is a very pleasant place to stay in Barcelona. It is nice and clean, the staff is friendly and attentive, the rooms are slightly old fashioned in a charming way with acceptable space, the bathrooms are up to modern standards and the breakfast buffet is far beyond expectations with its excellent selection. You stay only a few minutes walk from La Rambla in a quiet and relatively safe neighbourhood and I would consider this place with its medium prices a highly recommendable hotel for a week in the Catalan capital.

When last we stayed in the Husa Meson Castilla Hotel (2001)everything was fine. This time we were told on arrival that electrical problems meant we had been moved to the 'Orient' Hotel which was disappointing after a long trip. Apparently I should have been informed of this prior to arrival. I wasn't. *The Orient Hotel was good*.

Recommendable. Very reasonably priced classical hotel with a good buffet breakfast in a very central spot. Unfortunately they were renewing their lift.... but as a compensation they did put a scale with apples on every floor... sign of good service.

This hotel had a nice breakfast area and the breakfast was decent. The rooms were small and bathrooms extremely small. The staff was inconsistant with a woman named Amporah being excellent and most others very average and unfriendly. They did their best to let us choose a room, but in truth none of the rooms were really comfortable. Some smelled like smoke, all bathrooms too are small and when it rained we had a flood from the patio. I would neveer book here again.

Some employees could be more friendly. The rooms are a bit expensive for the standard they have ( not refurbished at all). The breakfast is poor. Good location.

We were there at the "Mercé" festival which we did not know in advance. Therefore the price was higher than usual. Normally I would think the the relationship between price/quality is OK. Had ordered a double room, but got a twin room ..

On balance this was a reasonable choice of hotel for our stay in Barcelona. It has a excellent location near the top of the Las Ramblas and close to the gay area of L'Eixample. Breakfast was good and plentiful and the outside garden area for this is a nice touch. The hotel itself is a little old and this is starting to show in some of the furnishings. In terms of cleanliness it could have been a little better. The floor in our room was tiled and was starting to get a little sticky towards the end of our 5 day stay. Another annoyance was the fact we were only given one drinking glass during our whole stay which was not cleaned or replaced. Female reception staff were a little abrupt and unsmiling however the male staff were more pleasant. On balance a reasonable choice, with the main advantage being the location.

Single rooms are TINY, with hardly any daylight, window partly blocked, and no view. Barely room for a small suitcase. Very clean. Romantic interior, castellan style, in hallways and sitting rooms. Location excellent, short walk to La Rambla, shops, restaurants etc.

Hotel in excellent location especially if you are only in Barcelona for the weekend. We managed to plan everything that we wanted to see and it was all within walking distance, if you also count the first stop of the jump on/off bus tour! We literally only wanted a base for the weekend as we knew that we wouldn't be spending much time there and Hotel Husa Meson Castilla was perfect for this. The breakfast was served until 11am, and was your standard continental cold options. But at least we knew we would have something inside us ready for the day ahead. If you are in Barcelona for a short break and plan on doing lots of touring - this hotel is great. Basic but clean and very friendly staff.

Great budget accommodation with simply furnished but clean rooms. Excellent breakfast for the money! Only snag is that being SO centrally located in LIVELY Barcelona, can be a tad noisy at night (so drink an extra "night cap"!!). Helpful staff.
