The Hotel Principal is just a few metres from the famous Ramblas, right in the heart of Barcelona. Set in a beautiful 19th century building, this 3-star establishment was recently renovated to offer you a comfortable stay in a fabulous location in close proximity to the most prominent Barcelona landmarks.
The 110 rooms are modest yet comfortable, having recently undergone a complete renovations. Each on is equipped with a flat screen television, air-conditioning and a marble bathroom with a hydromassage bathtub or shower. Enjoy the rooftop terrace, where you can enjoy the Spanish sun in perfect peace. Free Internet access is also available.
The Principal hotel is conveniently located in the centre of Barcelona. The Liceu metro station is just a few metres from the hotel. Discover the closeby Las Ramblas, the Boqueria market and the quaint, narrow streets in the Barrio Gotico district. The many shops on the Passeig de Gracia as well as the MACBA contemporary art museum are waiting for you.

We stayed in a room with Large beds, Very quiet room. The free internet was very useful. We used the desk to reserve places at restaurants a few times and they were very helpful. We did not have the chance to try the 8-euro breakfast, instead we walked (5 min.) to the La Boqueria market and ate there every morning.

We were in Barcelona for four nights. This location is great--about three blocks off the Ramblas, and close to the center of the Barri Gotic--very walkable to everything including the Mercado San Miguel which is a great place to go for breakfast or fruit (and meats too, if you have a way to cook them). It is on a narrow street and therefore quiet even though it is very close to the center of Barcelona pedestrian night life. Our room was very clean and well appointed--not luxurious--just right for the budget traveller. We had the breakfast the first day. It was decent food and adequate variety and all-you-can-eat so a good value, but we wanted to get out of the hotel and experience breakfast with the locals so we only had the hotel breakfast that first morning. The staff were all helpful at calling for reservations for us, helping with transportation info, calling cabs. The all spoke English well.We would recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to Barcelona on a budget.

Pricipal hotel is really good place for weekend in Barcelona - close to Ramblas and Barrio Gotico makes this place excellent for visitng city and get the atmosphere.. The rooms are really spacious.

We thoroughly enjoyed staying here - perfect location, 2 minutes to La Rambla and the market. The room was very nice, lovely bathroom, modern decor, clean and comfortable. Overall we thought this hotel was excellent quality at a very good price and we'd stay there again.
