The shower curtains had mold on them. You could feel the springs in the mattress. We asked to be moved which they did quite wilingly, the second mattress was slightly better. The breakfast room was not big enough for all the guests and because there were not enough plates ect.the poor under staffed help could not keep on top of the needs of the guests. The towels were very rough. This hotel had a four star rating, compared to other three star hotels we stayed in, in Spain. I would rate in with two stars.

Hotel location is perfect for the old town. Rooms are small as you would expect from type of building and age etc. but perfectly adequate with good ensuite facilities. One of our rooms had a private veranda same size as the room itself. Could not fault the hotel.

A very nice place to stay if you dont mind a bit of traffic noise. the bar was rarely open there are no tea or coffee facilities other than at breakfast. If you like a good Enlish cup of tea forget it its not at this hotel, but the coffee was good I dont know how this hotel qualifys as****

i have seen hostels in better condition than this so call 4 star hotel, it is old , dirty and in desperate need of a facelift but if you can get past that, it's situation is perfect for a weekend break in barcelona. Having said that there are several other hotels within one hundred meters of the Gotico and I would definately check them out before ustng the Gotico again.

The best sleep we had for a long time. The bed was ever so comfortable. The room is really cute, excellent location. I'd stay here again for sure.

Hotel location was excellent, quite central and easy walking distance to most areas of interest. Don't look forward to your breakfast too much or you may be disappointed. We had a problem trying to confirm our booking as one of the young chaps on receptionist could not communicate well in English and after a first attempt he then kept hanging up the phone. Also don't rely on reception for early morning call, same chap I expect.

The hotel should be rated as three star hotel instead of four star, othwerwise it's OK. Good for a 1-2 night stay.

Very good location, but it's definiely not a 4 stars hotel. It needs serious renovation, because everithing is old in this hotel (we had leaking tap in the bath, not very well working TV, the key become demagnetized 2 times during 6 days, one of the two elevators was out of order for 5 days out of 6 days of our stay, etc.)

I was epecting more from a 4* hotel. The bathroom had a broken rusty shower head and cracked floor tiles. The bed cover had a burn mark and the breakfast was very simple to say the least. Positives are that you couldn't be in a better location in the city as you are within 10 mins of nearly every major attraction and the hotel is lovely and quiet. Which is a fantastic as Barcelona never sleeps!

Breakfast buffet under average. Had to leave the hotel at 8.00 - buffet not ready until 7.30. Quality below average. Service below average. Otherwise - very good location. But do they know that we are there? Not a very friendly or homely attitude. ?!

The hotel was OK, but nothing special. The price of the rooms indicates a higher level of service and standard than the hotel actually is offering.

The location was fabulous, just minutes from the Ramblas and the Cathedral. Room spacious and breakfast provide a good choice.
