Old fashioned furnishings and decoration. Wall papers and carpets dated and mismatched and not clen looking. Very good location, helpful staff.

A historic building in a fabulous location, public areas most impressive. We found the reception and staff in general efficient if perhaps a little aloof. A nice hotel but you are paying for the history and location.

Hotel employees did not speak much English and my Spanish is only fair so I dont know if they had an airconditioning failure or decided not to turn it on. The night clerk was totally unhelpful. In any case, it was horribly hot and with the windows open to get some air, we were kept up by all the people having dinner past midnight on the street below. The hotel is impressive in the decor of its huge lounges, but the bar and common rooms in the Avila Parador have a nicer ambiance and there's a pretty outdoor terrace.
