The rooms very ordinary, no view and the curtains need to be kept closed as they look out onto the main passage for other guests. The service at Reception was poor. They are doing some building, so it hard to get access and the pool is not available. If you want to stay close into the CBD, try the 4 Seasons Diplomat - it looked much better.

Great location to shopping, tourist center and a must see Bojungle restaurant. Clean and quiet rooms, nice people. Room access is through common patios in the couryard and outside the hotel. It is a good stay for people who are interested in local cuisine, camel rides and Ayer's rock.

The bathroom was very poor, the worst I experienced in 6 weeks of travelling in Australia. When I mentioned this to reception they just agreed with me but took no action. The room itself was dark and bleak, with insufficient and low wattage bulbs, no bedside lights and completely bare walls. In all it was certainly not worth the money in comparison to other hotels I used in Australia.

Although the hotel is in a great location, and superficially looked clean, if slightly dated, I discovered that it wasn't as clean as it initially seemed. The duvet cover on the perfectly made-up bed was clearly stained with human by-product and I had to request that it be replaced. I am surprised that such a request was necessary. My experience may be a one-off mistake and not reflect the overall quality of the hotel (the other guests looked happy) but I thought that I should mention it.

As far as I am concerned, the Aurora is the only place to stay when visiting Alice Springs. It has everything necessary, and the location couldn't be better! The staff are knowledgeable and helpful. I highly recommend it. Joy Gaylord, USA

The reception staff were variable between mildly helpful to arrogant, dismissive and rude. The swimming pool and surrounding area is a joke. It should be described as a large bath situated in an ugly corner of the property. Housekeeping staff let themselves into the room at 7.45 am on a morning that we were not even due for discharge (knocked and unlocked door without waiting for a reply). I hated the experience of this hotel and would not only never recommend it, but would actively denounce it.

The central location of this hotel makes it a very good choice for staying in Alice Springs if you are travelling without a car. The Red Ochre Grill Restaurant, located on Todd Mall, is part of the hotel and offers a high standard of food with a local flavour. The hotel itself was comfortable enough and the staff were more than helpful.

Excellent location right in the downtown area. As I had heard from a previous rating, ensure that you are located in either the 300 or 400 series of room numbers - 200 series of room are right outside the patio area and could be noisy. Patio area is very nice and they have lots of places to sit out, relax and enjoy the weather / company. Disappointing pool area - stuck beside the parking lot. If the pool was better located this would increase the facilities from average to good.

Quite disappointing. The hotel looks more like a motel. There is only one French window, overlooking the corridor where customers walk by. No privacy, except if you close curtains (and then, no light !).
