Rude front of house staff. Very expensive should not be rated as 5 star. Wanted full rate for extending 1 night and basically told me to get lost! They would rather argue and haggle and this could be disconcerting to customers who are not used to this behaviour.

This is not a five stat hotel, at best I'd call it 3, maybe 2. Staff was cold and unhelpful. They also tried to make me pay the tax on the booking during the check-in. I refused and had a small argument and finally they dropped it, but it made for an unpleasant stay. Personally I would not stay there again, and would not recommend the hotel to anyone I know.

Not exactly what I had expected for a 5*. No one could give me accurate directions to drive to the hotel when I called. The pillow was very full of cigarette smell. The standard of the bathroom was NOT 5*. The pool was cramped and again not a 5*. If I had booked into a 4*, I would have been happier.

Good location to get to various different points of the city. Offers free transport to and from beach and Marina Mall each day. Also offers free internet for first 30 minutes. Didn't make too much use of the facilities but it has a gym on the 17th floor (elevator only goes to 16th - then steps) and a rooftop cafe and swimming pool on the hotel top. Certainly very good value.

Having used the Sands for a number of years and having lived in AUH for several years (1995-2004) it is my hotel of choice because it is real value for money, central, well serviced with excellent, helpful staff.

My stay at the Sands was not a pleasant one due to almost universally surly and inattentive service by the staff. Will not stay there again - it is not up to the standard of other 5-star properties in Abu Dhabi. Rooms are a little old but clean. Decent English pub in the hotel basement.
