At that time, it had a capacity for about 56,000 spectators, but after the Football World Cup 1986, the recognized capacity is 52,000, until the Stadium had its final renovation on December 20, 1986 reducing its total capacity to 43,700. The Wave was introduced into football during the 1986 World Cup in this stadium.
