Distinctive Homes Dome (formerly the Clipsal Powerhouse until the end of 2002) is a privately owned multipurpose indoor facility located in Findon, an inner western suburb of Adelaide, South Australia. Home of the Adelaide 36ers of the NBL and the Adelaide Lightning of the WNBL, as well as the sports local grassroots body Basketball SA, the venue is widely considered the home of basketball in South Australia. The dome seats 7,800 with numerous courtside boxes and 19 elevated corporate suites. It is currently the largest purpose built basketball arena in Australia. Built in 1991 at a cost of nearly $16 million, the Distinctive Homes Dome replaced the 3,000 seat capacity Apollo Stadium, and while its core business is basketball, the venue has also been used for various other sporting competitions such as Netball, Gymnastics, Inline Hockey and even Square Dancing. The dome's floor is also built 5m into the ground which gives the building a lower overall profile. Spectators enter the dome above the main level seating bowl. The Distinctive Homes Dome has gained deserved infamy as a tough venue for visiting teams. Solid crowds in the enclosed space mean that it can be one of the loudest team sport experiences in Adelaide.
