This incongruous neighborhood is just a few blocks in diameter and was built between the 1920s and 1930s on the old gardens of the Monastery of San Francisco. The neighborhood oozes charm: Mainly because with its cobblestone streets and gracefully decaying buildings, it looks as if a chunk of Paris's Latin Quarter was airlifted and dropped down in the middle of downtown Santiago. There are no sights as such but a wander along its hushed streets provides a soulful respite from the surrounding '70s-style gallerias and other mismatched buildings around the neighborhood's outskirts.
