Created in 1876, the Mount Pleasant Cemetery was established to help deal with the overflow of the Necropolis , Toronto's first non-sectarian cemetery. It is beautifully landscaped and houses an arboretum with native and non-native species as well as some fine architecture. Its paths are used by many joggers and cyclists as well as those looking for peace and quiet in verdant surroundings.

Col. William Barker, and writer and editor Jim Cormier.
